What are neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin – commercially known as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, and Xeomin that are used to treat wrinkles, frown lines and crow's feet.

What is the difference between BOTOX® and Dermal Fillers?

Non-surgical fillers are different than BOTOX®, a neuromodulator that addresses wrinkles caused by muscle contractions under the skin.
BOTOX® stops the muscle from contracting, eliminating the wrinkle. This is a totally different premise than fillers. Their differences can be discussed with your aesthetic provider during your consultation, and will work with you to decide which product is best for you.

Botox & Dysport

A combination of factors can cause facial lines. It’s not just about the cellular changes that may occur, or reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment.

Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in both men and women – to help them look visibly smoother.

Some patients receiving BOTOX® and Dysport report the injections feel like a pinch. You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines within 24 to 48 hours, with full results in 30 days lasting up to 5 months for moderate to severe frown lines.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a permanent treatment.

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Dysport is primarily used for correcting glabellar lines, the frown lines between your eyebrows. Dysport is a great option for those who have moderate to severe frown lines. Botox, on the other hand, can be used to treat many different types of wrinkles, including crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, and laugh lines.

Xeomin

This anti-aging injection is said to be lighter than Botox since it contains fewer proteins than Dysport and Botox. We use Xeomin to treat the same areas as the other two, glabellar and forehead lines, crow’s feet, and more.

How do I know which cosmetic injection is best for me?

During your consultation, you and your aesthetics provider will talk about your skin’s condition and the expectations you have for results. Based on your age and how long you would like these treatments to last, they will recommend dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin). Not every option will work for you, but there are some that can benefit from combining dermal fillers and these anti-wrinkle injections.
